Review: Urban Decay Afterglow Glide-On Cheek Tint in "Quickie"

When I buy new blush, I almost always immediately go back to my tried and true "peony" blush by Bobbi Brown.  So you know when I try a new blush and wear it every single day for more than a week---that I really love it.

I'm talking about the Urban Decay Afterglow Glide-On Cheek Tint. I got the color "Quickie" which is a bright pink color that gives a perfect flush to the cheeks. I apply it with a Sigma blush brush just to the apples of the cheeks over my NARS Laguna bronzer.

I took these photos after work because I wanted to show you how long the blush lasts because upon reading other reviews, a lot of people complained that the blush didn't last long.  I don't find this to be the case at all. I applied this blush at about 6 a.m. (I had an earlier start to my morning this Monday) and this is how it looked when I got home at 6 p.m.:

My cheeks are still pink and pretty, even though my skin is totally oily!  It's getting a lot warmer here now and by the end of the day my skin can be a little oily if I don't blot----but for the sake of this review, I wanted to show photos of how it looks after a day of wear.  I was in and out of the office today filming a video at various locations so I was outside more than usual. I definitely recommend this blush. It's easy to apply and the color is beautiful. I will make a note to take photos of it when I first apply it because it's more of a bright pink in the morning and a little brighter.

Speaking of awesome Urban Decay products---here are my eyelids after an entire day of wear after using the holy grail Urban Decay Primer Potion:

Can you say perfectly matte!?  This product is a must-have. Yes, I know my eyebrows look unruly! Time for a little trim.

Have you tried the UD afterglow cream blushes?  Let me know!

Veronika.

Live from the Loading Dock!

Hey there, my beautiful BOOBHs! How the heck are ya?

Okay, so I'm watching the Oscars right now... in a hotel room that's roughly 500 yards from the actual ceremony. And yes, that's as close as I am getting tonight!

Earlier today we enjoyed endured a pat-down by LAPD's finest just to get across the street from where the stars were getting out of their limos. We stood in a crowd foreign tourists for a while but couldn't see shit! People were just extending their cameras over their heads like periscopes, taking pictures and just hoping to catch something. Finally decided we'd rather go watch E! so we could at least see all the pretty dresses. :)

Our hotel is incredibly, ridiculously close to the ceremony! We've been watching them move giant potted plants, food, equipment, etc. into the theater for two days.

We haven't had a lot of luck seeing celebs yet, but each day is a new day here in Hollywood! We're just having a wonderful time. Yesterday we had lunch with the lovely Melissa, then we went shopping. Note to self: don't have two glasses of wine before shopping because suddenly dropping $130 in the Lucky store on two cotton shirts seems like a totally normal thing to do.

Last night we did it UP! We went to that burlesque show at a nightclub and got waaaay silly. I swear we laughed for 6 hours straight! Everyone we talked to-even the cab driver on the way there-was such a character! We took three turns in the photo booth and got some hilariously silly pics, and by the end of the night Maeghan and I were carrying Mala around like the two guys from Weekend at Bernie's. At one point Maeghan went to the bathroom and I found myself controlling Mala's limbs in time to the song "Stayin' Alive." Good times!

The photobomber MAKES this shot!

This morning, however... not such good times. Oy. It took us half the day to feel like doing anything other than groan, but once we got out into the beautiful, cool, sunny California weather, we felt better. Seriously, it's so pretty here, and even though it is cooler than usual, I am loving the weather. We had some yummy Thai for lunch and scoped out the hullabaloo on Hollywood Boulevard, and now here we sit... watching the Oscars on TV and writing to you. My buds.

Speaking of that, you didn't think I'd go to a Hollywood burlesque show and not bring you something back, did you? Sorry it's shaky, but after that many Absolut Mandarin & Sprites, you're lucky it recorded at all.

You're welcome!

Hey, FYI -- I've got a new article coming out on Oddee tomorrow (Monday)! Check it out if you get a chance.

Hope you're all having a FABULOUS, wonderful evening!
XOXO

Weekend Shopping: MAC & Sephora

Today consisted of yet another uninspiring shopping trip. I'm really starting to wonder why I even bother anymore.

Shopping used to be fun and inspiring and exciting and lately it's been sad, disappointing and just plain dull.  I'm still crossing my fingers that it's all because we're still in between seasons, because if this is what I have to look forward to, then my savings account is going to quadruple this spring/summer.

I haven't been to Forever 21 in months. MONTHS. So I decided to go to a mall that had one today and it was the most awful shopping experience I've ever had there, everThe entire left side of the store was various items that had stripes on them.  Seriously. A quarter of the store was stripes. Thin stripes, thick stripes, black and white stripes and colored stripes. Just horizontal freaking stripes everywhere. I wanted to cry. Now, don't get me wrong, I love stripe, but for the love of God they could have changed the name of the store from "Forever 21" to "Shop here if you heart stripes!!!!!!!"

UGH.  So then I checked out a few more stores and they too, were uninspiring.  So, I obviously didn't buy any clothing or accessories, but I did have a purpose to my mall trip.  I had somehow run extremely low on all of the makeup I use on a daily basis, all at the same time, which almost never happens.

So, I visited Sephora and MAC to pick up my essentials.

SELF-ESTEEM BOOST ALERT!: While at MAC, one of the male makeup artists came up to me and told me my makeup looked gorgeous and that I did "such a great job applying it." Thank you, awesome guy at MAC, for making my day!

Here's what I got:

From MAC:  Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation (C3); Studio Finish Concealer (NC20)

From SephoraNARS Laguna Bronzer; Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder; Philosophy Microdelivery Mini Peel Pads

The Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder is a new one for me and I bought it solely based on Giuliana Rancic's recent i-Village interview where she said it was one of her favorite products. She always has such pretty skin so I trust her recommendations. You can read about her other fave products here. Doesn't she just always look glow-y? I love it.

I still love my YSL touche eclat highlight pen but any eye brightening products are pretty much obsession-level for me, so I love to try new ones. I also love the Benefit Eye Bright pencil and will continue to use it in collaboration with other products.

...and, before I go, a story about good karma:

After I left Sephora today and shopped around for a bit, I had the sudden urge to look at my receipt.  I realized that the total on my bill was only $60 and that I had not been charged the $33 for my NARS Laguna bronzer.  I couldn't believe it.  I went back to the store and paid for it, and the girl who rang me out was really sweet and appreciative and was kind of stunned I came back.  I mean, it's not like I got a free chocolate bar! I would have felt too guilty using the product knowing that I hadn't paid for it, even if it wasn't my fault.  So, hopefully good things will be coming my way (and by good things, I mean I hope I win the lottery I stop eating Thin Mints.)

Happy weekend ladies!

xoxo,

Veronika.

Spring Card Set

This set of cards Lori created are so happy and cheerful. They would brighten anyone's day.

The layering and grouping on this card creates an imaginative scene. The embossing on the solid pink paper is all it takes to send birthday wishes.

This great color-combo was achieved by combining the die-cut accents from the With All My Heart collection and subtle Corinne papers. You may be surprised to find unique color palettes when you combine collections.

Pinwheels are so fun and springy. But, who would have thought to attach one to a card? Lori, that's who!
